Posted: May 2, 2018

Churches from all over the greater Longview area are coming together to pray for our community and country. On Thursday at 7 p.m. Mobberly Baptist Church is hosting churches from around the greater Longview area for a National Day of Prayer event, held in Mobberly's Longview Worship Center.

The time of worship and prayer will be led by Pastor Connor Bales from New Beginnings Baptist Church, Pastor Donnie Barron from Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Keith Kelley from Macedonia Baptist Church, Pastor DJ Nelson from Friendship Baptist Church, Pastor Teddy Sorrells from Joy Baptist Churchand Pastor Glynn Stone from Mobberly Baptist Church.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. See nationaldayofprayer.org/about for more information.

"[On May 3] an incredible movement will unfold in our country. Millions of Americans across all 50 states will gather in churches, local businesses, the steps of city halls, in schools, neighborhoods and public gathering places for a day of public prayer for the United States of America. In one voice, they will lift a single prayer request to God: unity in America.” Dr. Ronnie Floyd, President of the National Day of Prayer, said, "I honestly cannot think of another moment more appropriate for America to come together and pray for unity in our nation.”

The Pray for America event starts at 7 p.m. in Mobberly Baptist Church’s Longview Worship Center located at 625 E Loop 281. The event is free and all are invited to attend.
