Mobberly Hosting Free Neighborhood Block Party in Marshall

Posted: August 14, 2017

MARSHALL, Texas - Mobberly Baptist Church is beginning the move in process into its new home in the Bel Air neighborhood. Since taking ownership of the new facility in late June, Mobberly has been renovating the property. Although the renovation will not be completed for another couple of months, Mobberly already has plans to get to know its neighbors.

Mobberly will host a Back-to-School Bash, a neighborhood block party, on Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 6:30-8 p.m., at Mobberly’s new Marshall campus located at 101 Carolanne Blvd., across from the new Travis Elementary.

The free event is for all ages and will feature bounce houses, sno-cones, games and more. Gift card door prizes will also be awarded throughout the night.

"As summer winds down and the school year approaches, there are fewer activities for families in our community,” Geoffrey Davis, Mobberly’s Marshall campus pastor said. “Our hope is to fill that gap with a fun event for all ages, giving families a friendly and safe place to have a great time and meet their neighbors.”

“Mobberly loves to serve others, which is why we do things like throw free block parties for the neighborhood,” Davis said. “We don't charge, or ask for donations at our events, because we desire to show the kind of love to others that God has for all people. One of our favorite ways to do this is to offer a free event and even give away gift cards throughout the night.”

“We are incredibly grateful that God gave us a church facility in the Bel Air neighborhood, and can’t wait to introduce ourselves and become great neighbors,” Davis said. “One of the things I believe will help our community is for neighbors to get to know each other. It saddens me that it's possible to live next-door to someone and not know them. My hope is that an event like ours can play a role in bringing our community together.”

Mobberly took ownership of the former Bel Air Baptist Church building and property in June. The property is currently undergoing renovations which are expected to last into the fall. Mobberly’s leadership hopes to begin hosting regular Worship Gatherings in the facility beginning Dec. 1. Currently, contemporary Worship Gatherings are held at the Marshall Convention Center on Sundays at 10:45 a.m. In addition, activities for preschool (birth-kindergarten) and children (grades 1-6), as well as adult and youth (grades 7-12) Connect Groups, are held at 9:15 a.m.
