Associate Minister to Children
The thing I love most about my job is:
I love the opportunity of sharing spiritual truths with preteens. My favorite moment is to be there when something clicks in their heart and mind and they “get it”, when a spiritual truth takes root and they take responsibility for that.
Where did you go to college and what degrees did you obtain?
I attended what is now Texas A & M University at Texarkana. I have a BBA with emphasis in Accounting.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Rapid City, South Dakota. When I was 6, my family moved to Texarkana, Texas.
When and how did you come to know Christ?
At the age of 7, I recognized my need for a Savior; that my sin prevented me from having a relationship with our creator. I accepted Jesus’ sacrifice as payment for sin. Since that day, He has been my constant companion and has guided me through both difficult and joyous days. It continues to be an amazing journey.
When and whom did you marry?
In July of 1986, I married David Brooks. We have two sons, Matthew and Michael.
Your last meal would be:
A shrimp feast!
Nobody knows that you:
Played the clarinet in junior high.
What lesson from mom or dad do you still live by today?
My mom and dad have always been very wise with their money. They never used credit cards and seldom acquired anything by going into debt. I know that this example has greatly influenced my spending habits.
