j.parnel-175Joe Parnell is on staff as our Serve Pastor. Joe has served in full time ministry for 30 years.  He began his ministry as a Baptist Student Director serving on 3 campuses between the years of 1977-1991.  He served at Tarrent County Community College from 1977-78,  East Texas Baptist College from 1978-1982 and at the University of Texas, Austin from 1982-1991.  In these roles, he was an employee of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  Before coming to Mobberly, Joe served from 1991-92 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin as Singles minister.    Joe has served as a feature speaker, teacher or seminar leader for more than 120 conferences, retreats, youth camps and January Bible studies.   

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  In his spare time Joe loves to play Disc golf, ride motorcycles and work in his woodshop.  He is currently learning to repair and build guitars.  

Joe has two children, Denyse Gordon and Charlie Parnell.  Denyse is married to Dave Gordon and lives in Kyle Texas.  Charlie lives in Longview and is a certified Luthier (guitar builder and repairman).
